Westminster Weekend

Last Thursday was a bit of a wild day at Sarah's - we got in over 100 new bolts of fabrics! Our regular UPS guy was not too happy to deliver 18 boxes to the store (or maybe he loves the workout). We, however, were very excited to open them. 

Inside we found lots of great things from Westminster Fabrics - new lines from Kaffe Fassett, Brandon Mably, Martha Negley, Phillip Jacobs, and Denyse Schmidt. Somehow we found room for everything, so you'll have to come see for yourself! Here's a sneak peak:

five signs that spring is here!

1. Spring colors and designs. We love Aneela Hoey's new line "Walk in the Woods" with its fresh colors and cute animal and mushroom drawings. Spring is the perfect season for a walk in the woods! 

2. New pillowcases! Put the flannel sheets back in the closet and make yourself some new bedding. We decided to celebrate the beautiful weather with the Peanuts gang. 

3. Organic fabrics! With Earth Day coming up next month (April 22), Spring is the prime time to be green. Check out all of Birch's latest designs at the store. 

4. There's no need for socks when it's warm outside, so why not use your old knits to make sock monkeys? If you don't want to make a new toy, try a new picnic blanket made with these jumping monkeys. 

5. Bunnies! Our downstairs costume shop is getting ready for Easter with our full bunny costumes. Call if you need to rent one - they're going fast!

Here's a sneak peek at what we've been getting in the mail lately. Everything for home decorating fabric to organics to great basics!

These are just a few from the first line by Amy Butler's husband, David. Under the guise "Parson Gray," his Curious Nature line is a very modern take on a more masculine color palate. There are also heavyweight cotton in the collection that would look great in any home. 

These Robert Kaufman dots complement just about anything. Try using them in a t-shirt quilt! 

This line from Birch is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen. Birch never fails to make fabrics that are modern, retro, kid-friendly, and hip all at the same time. Not to mention they are 100% organic! There's much more to this line at the store that everyone should come check out. 

We are getting new fabrics in almost everyday, so keep up with us here or on our facebook or our website. 

We just got in some of Sweetwater's new Reunion line. Something about it reminds of summertime. Perhaps decorations for a 4th of July picnic? 

The banner fabric is just asking for a party. Use these fabrics or any others you see and make your own! We carry a great pattern from the studios at Empty Bobbin.

 Sarah's just got in a shipment from across the globe! Yuwa fabrics always delivers such beautiful designs. Plan a visit to come see (and feel!) our new Japanese prints. 

 We're especially excited about the new line from quilter Yoshiko Jinzenji. Her books are always fabulous, and now there's fabric to match!

With all that new fabric for boys, it was fun to see something girly come into the store today. We like to keep it balanced here at Sarah's, after all. Thus, help us welcome a new line from Dear Stella!

Along with the quilting cottons, we also got in some of their canvas-weight prints.

I wouldn't use any of these as a guide though - you'd end up walking in circles!
